I hope everyone enjoys this commercial. We're always trying to bring you something light and fun while at the same time showcasing what we have to offer here at Sameach Music.

As the "adapter" of this commercial I just wanted to say that from the moment I first saw the first Geico Caveman commercial I loved it and wanted to do a Jewish adaptation of it.

I want to give a shout out to the original creators of this ad concept and I hope everyone will enjoy our Shtetl twist on it.

We get many common questions here at Sameach Music. One that always pops up is "What can we do with our scratched CD's?"

In the past we told you that you can use toothpaste. A reader of this website e-mailed us another option.

Try using a banana, the peel and some Windex. Watch the video below and try it at home. Maybe use a rotting banana so you aren't wasting food.

I know we already asked for your vote at the Jewish Blog and Podcast awards a few months ago. But we were nominated for the first time by the mainstream Podcast Awards website. We are very excited about this and even though we know we have very little chance, we'd love the support. This is the main podcast awards for the entire podcast community.

Please go to PodcastAwards.com and scroll all the way down to the Religious Inspiration category at the bottom of the page and give us your vote. You don't have to vote for all the other podcasts, but please vote for this one. Thank you very much and we look forward to recording a new podcast this week. Please feel free to pass this message onto your friends. Especially if they haven't yet hear our show!

Here are the English lyrics of Aaron Razel's "The The Krembo Song" from his newly released album "Connected to You"

On the last Sameach Podcast (#36) we had a contest. We had a bunch of great submissions, but this one was the most in detail. You can watch the video here.

Hello? Hello? Friends?
I have a question…

Now I have a halakhic (relating to Jewish law) question…
Yes please:

OK
When you are eating the Krembo, that is the most explosive invention,
And even in the winter there is inside of it's pocket,
Biscuit, Biscuit, Biscuit

A round biscuit in which that on top of it is the cream
The cream
And when the eating of the Krembo, that is the most explosive invention,
And even in the winter there is inside of it's pocket,
Biscuit, Biscuit, A round biscuit in which on top of it is the cream

The cream, The cream, The cream and the biscuit like are one piece they are,The cream and the biscuit are like one piece they are,

The cream and the biscuit,The biscuit and the cream.

The question is - On Shabas
The question is - On Shabas

If someone that doesn't like or something that doesn't want for any reason a to eat the biscuit whether it is allowed to separate it from the cream?

To put it aside - And he will just eat the cream?

And the eating of the Krembo, that is the most explosive invention, And even in the winter there is inside of it's pocket,

Biscuit, Biscuit, A round biscuit in which on top of it is the cream

The cream,The cream and the biscuit like are on piece they are,

The cream, and the biscuit are like one piece they are, The cream and the biscuit,The biscuit and cream

The question is on Shabas, The question is on Shabas, If the person that doesn't like if someone that doesn't like or something that doesn't want for any reason a to eat the biscuit whether it is allowed to separate it from the cream? To put it aside , And he will just eat the cream? Apparently it is not allowed - To separate them, It is not allowed to separate them,It is not allowed to separate them, Even though it is one piece.

But in reality they are like to two different items that are eaten

For in the case that you separate the biscuit from the cream

That there would stay with the biscuit a little bit of cream

That it would be recognizable

That there would stay with the biscuit a little bit of cream

That it would be recognizable

In that way it would be permissible

Then, Then, Then, Then it would be recognizable

And the eating of the Krembo, that is the most explosive invention, And even in the winter there is inside of it's pocket.

Biscuit, Biscuit, Biscuit, A round biscuit in which on top of it is the cream

The cream,One second I'm confused, The cream and the [laugh] biscuit like are on piece they are, The cream and the biscuit are like one piece they are, The cream and the biscuit, The biscuit and cream

(Thank You to Shemen for these lyrics, the winner will be announced on the next podcast)

Some people have e-mailed asking when the next podcast is, so here is a small update. It's been very busy both at Sameach and Neshama Orchestra where Dov and Sruly work and it's been hard to get together to do a new show.

So we are taking a short vacation and we will be recording a new podcast during the week of January 29th. By then we hope to have preview clips (or more) from Ohad's new CD, and updates on some other projects that are being worked on right now.

We apologize for the delay and once we come back we will be back on our regular bi-weekly schedule.

In order to get ready for the next podcast, we're asking you to send us your e-mails and comments. E-mail us at SameachMusic@aol.com, we'd also love to hear what you thought of the most recent HASC concert featuring Avraham Fried, Ohad, Shalsheles Jr., Dedi, Dovid Gabay, Baruch Levine & special guest Cantor Yitzchok Meir Helfgot. Email us your favorite moments and we will read them on the air.

Ari Goldwag can now add Podcaster to his always growing list of talents. Ari has released the first two episodes from his newly minted Jewish Music podcast. You can hear many songs from Ari's ablums in addition to special treats like a not yet released Ari Goldwag tune and a unreleased duet with Yaakov Shwekey. Ohad's follow up CD was unfortunately delayed from being released before Chanukah. No need to worry as we are expecting news on the albums status soon. We don't know when it will be out and there is no official release date. When we know something concrete, we will report it.

Dov and Sruly will IYH get back into the studio later this week to record a brand new podcast (#31!) featuring all the latest music news and previews to keep you entertained and up to date. Lev Tahor

Since Sefirah has begun I have received quite a few e-mails asking for the lyrics to the song Deaf Man In The Shteeble. This song is on Lev Tahor's 3rd album, which was their 2nd acappella album.

You can hear samples from this album online at JewishJukebox.com

Lyrics:

Just the deaf man in the Shteeble and to everyone's surprise,
He comes to Shul each Shabbos, and he prays with tear filled eyes,
His son is the Chazzan, but his voice he's never heard.
But he sits there enjoying every word.

He watches every motion every gesture that he makes,
And he stays till the very end however long it takes.
And when the Davening is over, he's the first to reach his son,
And the deaf man in the Shteeble says well done.
Now it's right before Yom Kippur, in the Shteeble there is fear
They want to start Kol Nidre but the Chazzan's still not there.
The Shul is filled with people, as the night begins to fall,
But the deaf mans chair stands empty by the wall.

Then suddenly the Chazzan, he comes rushing through the door.
He's wearing his white Chazzan's hat he's never worn before.
He pauses for a moment at his fathers empty chair, and quietly he wipes away a tear.

Then he runs up to the Beema, for there's no time left to waste.
And half the Shul can hear the rabbi ask "how come so late?"
"Oh just getting ready for Yom Kippur" is all he'd say,
"But now, I'm going up to pray"
And he takes his place surrounded by the holy torah ring,
And in a voice so beautiful he beings to sing,
Oh every heart was broken, oh and every soul burned bright,
From his Kol Nidre that Yom Kippur night.

And when he finished Davening, the rabbi asked to tell,
What was it he was thinking of that made him sing so well.
"Well you know my dad was deaf" he said, "last night he passed away.
It's the first time that my father's heard me pray"
And he takes his place surrounded by the holy Torah ring,
And in a voice so beautiful he begins to sing.
Oh every heart was broken, oh and every soul burned bright,
From his Kol Nidre that Yom Yippur night.

You can find out more about LevTahor at their new web address.

About a month ago I was asked to write an article on Jewish music for the JE Magazine. I've been getting some very nice feedback and some voicemail's which I'll share on the next podcast.

I started getting a lot of requests to publish the article online so that other people can read it. Thank you to Ozer Babad and Yossi Zweig of the JE Magazine for asking me to write this, it was a lot of fun. Incidentally, if it works out Yossi will be on the next podcast to discuss the JE Magazine. So look out for that, as well as other surprises.

You can download the article here available as a PDF.

UPDATE: June 14th, 2006.

I have closed and removed the comments from this posting. The reason for this is that I have collected the comments you have left and plan on writing a second article on this topic using your suggestions as well as some other songs I had left out.

If you would still like to comment or email me a suggestion for the next article please send it to
Sameachmusic@aol.com

Thank you.

We are working on Show # 3 as we speak, we hope to be bringing you some new music, some news on albums in the works, some songs to listen to, your new co-host, a top 5 from Yodo, plus a contest. There will be more information very soon. We will be giving away 2 tickets to a very big concert coming up in mid November. Stay tuned to the show for exact details. Sometime in the next couple days the show will be uploaded.

If you aren't able to attend the concert, or aren't interested in the tickets you can still participate and be eligible to win a prize package including at least 2 CD's and 1 DVD that you will be able to choose from a list of current and new releases.

If you want to get a head start on the contest here is roughly how it will work.

We are asking for your help in promoting the podcast. The person who brings in the most traffic will win the tickets.

The easiest way to participate is tell your friends about the show, and when they download the show, tell them to e-mail us at sameachmusic@aol.com that YOU (make sure they tell us your first and last name) recommended them to listen to the show. Each e-mail will count as 1 referral. The contest ends Novermber 8th at midnight.

Another way for you to win is to e-mail other websites, blogs, e-mail message boards, message groups and tell them about the podcast. Ask them to link to the show, or write an article about the show. You can e-mail or call newspapers, radio stations or even get Jewish podcasters or radio hosts to talk about the show. E-mail us the website, blog or message board that you got to link to us (make sure the webmaster or site author will vouch that you asked them to promote the show.)

For every website, blog or message board that you secure that will count as 2 referrals. Everyone is eligible, think big, if you get a newspaper to write up the show that will count as 3 referrals.

When the contest ends, the person that has the most referrals will win. You only have a short time. Records will be kept of every e-mail or site that is recommended. If we catch anyone pulling anything non kosher they will be disqualified. We will be verifying what comes in.

Think outside the box, the goal is to help spread the word about this great new show. If you e-mail us something that's huge, we may count it as 4 referrals. E-mail us a digital picture of posters that you put up in your neighborhood, or at your school. Be creative, and of course make sure you have a record of it, take a picture, mail it to us! Good Luck!
